Tales from Film Camp 2023
Three different student teams worked on trust and communication among their group and then began the task of creating a short film and a public service announcement. The theme? “Tales from the Grave,” a spooky theme to go along with the spooky month of October when the film will premiere.
Students were in class each day, first learning how to use their creativity and communication skills to produce a plot for a short film. They then had to pitch it to Joey Travolta, who had to give approval before they began to prepare for filming. At the same time, they sat in on interviews with Mr. Travolta, one at a time, getting comfortable in front of the camera and answering questions they never imagined they would have to answer.
We watched campers arrive uncertain of what their week would be like and ended with them asking, “Can we come back next week?” Students reported learning strengths they did not know they had. Others said they had an interest in acting before the camp, but now are considering pursuing work in the field. We saw first-hand campers gaining confidence and coming out of their shells throughout the week.
We cannot wait to see what these amazing students produced! Save the date for the Film Premiere event, October 3 at the University of Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock! You will not want to miss it as we roll out the red carpet and celebrate the talent and skills of thirty-three diligent Arkansas students!
